The design for this bathroom was to look very much like concrete but also match the color of their tiles in the shower. We chose to use a little more of a brown gray for this project to match, and decided on a heavy texture and a matte sealer. The entire enclosure was sealed using Ardex 8 +9, which is a great product to use as it bonds directly to the cement board, is watertight, and also provides an amazing surface for the base coat plaster to adhere to. The walls all have fiberglass mesh embedded into them with two basecoats of plaster and a two tone top coat system, leaving the base coat showing a little in a lighter color. Lastly we taped out joint lines to look like form work on the walls to give the client a real industrial feel.
