- Velvet Base should only be applied to properly prepared smooth surfaces.
- Textured walls should be floated with joint compound, sanded smooth and then apply a PVA primer.
- New drywall should be floated with joint compound, sanded smooth and then apply a PVA primer.
After adequate surface preparation is complete and dust is removed from surface, apply two coats of Velvet Base with short hair nap roller and let dry for a minimum of four hours between coats. If you feel the material is too heavy, it can be diluted with clean water by up to 10%. Ensure complete and even coverage to make sure the finish looks uniform in richness throughout entire surface. Second coat of Velvet Base can be rolled and then made smooth with a stainless steel trowel while drying which helps minimize sanding. Once second coat is dry, sand smooth with 220 grain sand paper or finer.
50-65 sq ft with 2 coats per quart; depending on surface and texture.
