Trevor Manton, owner and operator of 5 Star Finishes Ltd, learned the trades of paint and plaster working with his Dad as a kid. After attaining a degree in Molecular Biology and Biochemistry from Simon Fraser University in British Columbia, he sought adventure in Australia. There, he became skilled in drywall and solid plaster, and was then introduced to Venetian Plaster and Microcement by an artisan from Europe. Trevor was excited about these finishes, and found them to be far superior to paint and concrete stucco!
In 2008, he was part of a 3-man team which started what soon became an explosion of interest in these finishes across Australia and New Zealand. Their work was featured in Louis Vuitton, H&M, Hilton Hotel, BVLGARI, and other high-end establishments.
After relocating back to Canada in 2016, Trevor found that these finishes were still mostly unheard of here. Initially he sourced products from Italy and the US to begin offering his services in the Greater Vancouver Area. Very soon, he began using his knowledge of chemistry and the help of prominent companies Dow Chemicals and Akzo Nobel to develop his own formulations.
Trevor has spent and continues to spend endless hours researching and sourcing specific raw materials, never compromising on quality. He strives to continually fine-tune and enhance his products and systems to provide his clientele with some of the top performing and most enjoyable to work with on the market.
