Muji has Re-opened their store in Metrotown mall after having expanded into a storefront next door. The entire store was overhauled, with new dressing rooms, a brand new checkout area and custom sewing area for embroidery and clothing alterations.
We were contacted by Etro Construction to continue our finish from last year across 1000sq ft of new wall space. This is a traditional eco friendly and earthen finish in Japan and Korea. The Lime and sand finish has straw embedded into the surface to create a beautiful effect that really brought all of the store’s design elements together. They chose a lot of earthen wood tones, wallpapers and accessories that were complimented by this earthen plaster, bringing a warmth and feel that paint could not offer.
This finish was custom designed for Muji specifically, with all the elements of the plaster itself and the application technique being designed to match samples from Japan. We were able to use local materials to re-create this finish and provide a functional plaster without having to import it from Japan.
